Actually Autistic With ADHD: Getting An Adult Assessment, Late Diagnosis & The Mourning After

In this video I discuss the process of getting an Autism & ADHD assessment as an adult, the results and report and some of my thoughts post diagnosis.

This all happened in late 2021. I meant to film this video before Christmas and didn't get to it until January and then still didn't finish editing it until February!

Writing it was the easy part, filming it was heavy but editing it was even worse. I am still not happy with it and it isn't exactly what I set out to make and I cringe so much watching it but I do not wanna reshoot or reedit because it's been on my plate so long I just need to get it off.

I haven't made the hub of resources I wanted to make yet, but I'd rather do it right than rush it or delay this video just to have them in sync. It's turned into something a little bigger than I first imagined.

Anyway...

The next few videos I post will be on some lighter topics to give me a break from the heavy stuff.

This all happened in October/November 2021, was filmed in January (should have been December) and I didn't fully finish editing it until last night (those finishing touches and text layers are so tedious).

Writing it was the easy part, filming it was heavy, but editing it was the worst.

I am still not happy with it and it’s not what I originally set out to make. I cringe so much watching it but I do not wanna re-shoot or re-edit because it's been on my plate so long I just need to get it off and I just don’t feel like it would be as genuine to how I felt.

Little update:

After a long period of overwhelm, things are finally starting to look up (evidenced by actually getting this up!). I did think I’d want to make more videos on my experience sooner, but I think being emotionally vulnerable on the Internet when I’m not in the place for it is a slippery slope 😓

The next few videos I post will be on some lighter topics to give me a break from the heavy stuff.

I am excellent at putting pressure on myself and for once I’m trying to take things slow and steady with my new ideas so I can maintain it, especially as its a format and topic area I haven’t touched on much before. I know I will enjoy it when I get going 😆

I’ll come back to this topic down the line when I have something more valuable to add, but for now I’ll do my best to reply to comments but please be respectful 🙃
