The Rolling Stones' 1969 concert in the United States is one of the most iconic events in music history. It took place during their “American Tour 1969,” which marked the band's return to America after a hiatus. The most famous performance of this tour was at the Altamont Speedway in California on December 6, 1969. This concert, which was initially intended to be a peaceful and revolutionary event, ended tragically with the death of a young man.
The Altamont concert was organized to be a sort of “West Coast Woodstock,” but security, managed by members of a motorcycle gang called the “Hells Angels,” got out of hand. The situation quickly escalated, leading to violence and death. Despite this, the tour was a great success overall, with the Rolling Stones introducing legendary songs such as “Sympathy for the Devil” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” to the audience.
00:00 - Jumpin' Jack Flash
04:23 - Carol
08:28 - Sympathy for the Devil
16:42 - Chat with audience
19:15 - Under My Thumb
23:35 - Love in Vain
27:42 - Little Queenie
31:30 -(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
36:58 - Honky Tonk Women
40:56 - Street Fighting Man
I do not own ANY of the soundtrack, property and rights for this video. All the video footage was taken from the movie “Gimme Shelter”. The quality is pretty good considering when it was filmed.
