After a night at Oberwinter on the Rhein, we used 7 hours up to the Rhein Herne-kanal and tied up close to a lock for the night. It took us 12 hours before we entered the Mitteland-kanal and tied up at Schweghaar and the next day we ended at Minden (all supplies). Next stop was Braunschweig. Long boring 12 hour-runs every day.
But we knew we were coming to an end of the canals in a couple of days. Position northern Germany and feel we smell saltwater.
Locks in Germany: Apach - Koblenz: 12
Rhein-Herne kanal/Dortmund-Ems: 6, Mitteland kanal/Elbe-Seiten 3
and Elbe-Lubeck kanal: 7, a total of 176 locks !
