Our Interview With Dr. Irene Kling, Ph.D CCC/SLP

Dr. Irene Kling, Ph.D CCC/SLPAs is a licensed, certified speech-language pathologist, virologist, and owner of Kling Voice & Speech/Language Therapy Serviced, PLLC. Dr. Kling is also currently on the faculty of Mannes College the New School for Music, where she teaches, Care of the Professional Voice: Vocal Production and Vocal Health. She was also an adjunct professor and clinical supervisor at Adelphi University's Manhattan Center. Along with her colleague, Dr. Steven Cox, Dr. Kling received the Adelphia University's Center for Health Innovation Award (2017) for the creation of the Transgender Voice Program at Adelphi's Manhattan Center. Dr. Kling is also a coauthor of the book Voice Rehabilitation: Testing Hypotheses and Reframing Therapy, which is a patient-centered, hypothesis-driven framework for clinicians beginning to practice and for practicing clinicians who want to hone their skills.

Interviewed by our Different & Able President and Founder, Alexandra Nicklas, Dr. Kling discusses her patient/client services of transgender voice habilitation, stroke rehabilitation, stuttering, articulation, accent reduction, and language development in children. Throughout her career, Dr. Kling truly has demonstrated her professionalism and her genuine interest in each patient/client. Dr. Kling continues her advocacy, education, and research on speech and language therapy to help individuals share their voice.
