Dr Alan Epstein is P&W VP Technology and Environment and tells us about the history of the PW4000 engine. Its predecessor was the first engine used on the 747 and then when the PW4000 emerged it was the first engine used on the 777. This engine was selected for use on the USAF new tanker.
