In Nsw.t Biti – The Spirit of Our Ancestors: The Indigenous Black Rulers of Egypt Amoye Neblett reinforces the idea that Ancient Kemet, [Egypt] was an indigenous Black African civilization along the Nile Valley. This has been proven emphatically by linguists, archeologists, genetics, Egyptologists, historians, and scholars for centuries. He cites the works of classical scholars, those of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, as well as contemporary scholars. He takes a brief look at the modern linguistic classifications of the ancient Egyptian language, mdw netcher, and its relationship to other African languages.
He points out some of the important studies done on mummies from the dynastic period prior to the Asian and Greek invasions into Egypt. Most modern studies on mummies and genetics don’t use specimens from the earliest foundations of Kemet. Instead, they usually cover periods when foreign populations were more prevalent in order to prove that Kemet had a large Asian and Mediterranean population.
He also provides a biographical look at ten rulers from dynastic Kemet covering the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms. This provides a fascinating look at their accomplishments, their administrations and familiar ties. He offers a list of the nsw.t biti from the pre-dynastic period to the Greco-Roman period. Most notably, he attempts to use the language of ancient Kemet as opposed to the customary use of Greek to describe people, places and things.
Having received a degree in Political Science and African History from York College of the City University of New York in 1979, the author began extensive studies on the history of African cultures in general, and ancient Kemet in particular. He has done field research in Egypt, studying temples and tombs and artifacts at the museums in Cairo and Luxor. Additionally, he has studied the research in the South Asasif area of Luxor, of twenty-fifth dynasty tombs, under the guidance of Anthony Browder. He has also done field research in the historic region of Sudan, the site of the ancient empires of Kush, Kerma, and Merowe.
