Crystal fractionation is a natural process which remove new formed crystals out of the magma chamber. Crystals are removed from the melt and settle at the bottom of the system due to the fact that they are more denser than the liquid, thus due to gravity they will sink and get to be accumulated at the bottom layer. Due to gradual deposition of such minerals, the process makes the first crystals to be removed completely from the liquid because they are at the bottom and they are far away from the liquid due to the overlying sediments. But if the formed crystals are less denser than the melt, they will rather float in this case, and get to be deposited at the far top of the system, with gradual deposition of the fine materials at the top, that removes the newly formed layers from interaction with the liquid.
