May 8, 1985 - This is the pre-Bad Boys era of Detroit Pistons basketball, where running & gunning was the name of the game. In a series in which the Celtics scored 120 points or more in five of their six games, a sampling of those ethos was on display during the second quarter of Game 5, when both teams combined to hit 10-of-11 shots in just over two minutes of deadball-free gametime. The Celtics ultimately emerged victorious, 130-123.
For the Pistons, it was this particular series that served as the straw that broke the camel's back. By the following season, Rick Mahorn had joined the fold and in the subsequent draft, Dennis Rodman & John Salley joined the club, beginning the Bad Boys era in earnest.
