Saint Martin To Chera Dip | Chera Dip | Way of Chera Dip | Adjoining Island Chera Dip. St. Martin's Island is a small island in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal, about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula, and forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. There is a small adjoining island that is separated at high tide, called Chera Dwip. Chhera Island, also called Chhera Dwip, Cheradia Island or Cheridia Island, is an uninhabited island and extension of St. Martin's Island at the mouth of the Naf River in the Bay of Bengal, within the Chittagong Division of southeastern Bangladesh. During high tides it is divided from St. Martin's Island by the sea. During low tides, the island can be reached by walking for about 2½ hours from St. Martin's Island. The most popular travel mode to it is by local motorboat or tourist boat services. Washed up corals can be found on the island's beaches. It has an area of shrub and palm tree vegetation. No permanent settlement is established on the island.
ছেঁড়া দ্বীপ হলো বাংলাদেশের মানচিত্রে দক্ষিণের সর্বশেষ বিন্দু। দক্ষিণ দিকে এর পরে বাংলাদেশের আর কোনো ভূখণ্ড নেই। সেন্ট মার্টিন থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন ১০০ থেকে ৫০০ বর্গমিটার আয়তনবিশিষ্ট কয়েকটি দ্বীপ রয়েছে, যেগুলোকে স্থানীয়ভাবে 'ছেঁড়াদিয়া' বা 'সিরাদিয়া' বলা হয়ে থাকে।
প্রবাল দ্বীপের সেন্টমার্টিন থেকে ছেঁড়া দ্বীপ প্রায় পাঁচ কিলোমিটার দক্ষিণে অবস্থিত। দক্ষিণের এই বিচ্ছিন্ন দ্বীপে রয়েছে প্রচুর প্রাকৃতিক পাথর। দ্বীপের প্রায় অর্ধেকই জোয়ারের সময় সমুদ্রের পানিতে ডুবে যায়।
ছেড়া দ্বীপের আয়তন তিন কি: মিটার। ২০০০ সালের শেষের দিকে এই দ্বীপটির সন্ধান পাওয়া ।
মূলত জোয়ারের সময় সেন্টমার্টিন থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে যায় বলে এমন নাম হয়েছে দ্বীপটির। নীল জলরাশির মাঝখানে প্রবাল পাথরের তৈরি দ্বীপটি। দূর থেকে দেখলে মনে হয়, সাগরের মাঝে ভাসমান একটি বন; কাছে গেলেই দেখা মেলে প্রবাল পাথর আর বালু ঢেউ খেলছে ছেঁড়া দ্বীপে (Chhera Island)।
