Ocean Kingdom: Building the World's Largest Aquarium - Part 2 - Full Documentary

This is Part 2 of our deep dive into one of the most ambitious construction projects in modern architecture: Ocean Kingdom, the largest aquarium ever built.

This movie relates the story of the construction in China of a gigantic marine life sanctuary: a glass and metal structure capable of holding a 100 million litter ocean !

Ocean Kingdom, the biggest aquarium in the world is achieving itself on the island of Hengqin, next to Macao. There is not a single place that looks like it, in terms of construction site’s size, type or architectural scale, numbers of sea species exposed and also in matters of visitors expected. Ocean Kingdom is a dream factory: a marvelous amusement park for every ocean scientist to be. The giant aquarium is of course one of the main attraction but also the biggest investment. It needed world expert collaboration to solve a true architectural engineering puzzle. By itself, it already broke few records. It’s going to gather the largest number of whale sharks in captivity as well as multiple stingrays like the tall manta rays. It will also host not less than 20.000 fishes and close to 5000 different species.

This movie cover 4 years of colossal work, innovations and technical achievement organized over a perfect logistic. It also shows how each animal have been brought in their new habitats as well as the amazing work of those in charge with caring for what is in fact true celebrities.
