This video showcases the creative mastery of Laura Walkingstick, a Cherokee artisan. She created the cornhusk dolls, traditional clothing, brass jewelry, beadwork, and rivercane pieces. These dolls represent the traditional dress of 1800s Cherokee culture and the wide variety of uses for rivercane within the culture.
These dolls are now a part of the Mountain Heritage Center's collection and will be displayed with several Cherokee culture exhibits.
This project is made possible by a grant from the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership.
