This video covers most of the rebuild with the heads from my other video about the port work I did to them.
The first few minutes are about the oil pump drive and the O-ring that starts leaking with age; and the alternator placement and reasons why you should change it out if you are tearing this engine down anyways.
After that until about the 9 minute mark is how I got my cam carriers placed on the heads without the lifters falling out.
Then from about the 9 minute mark to the 35 minute mark is an in-depth tutorial on how to set the timing the long and complicated way on one of these engines, the special tool(s) you will need, the issues I had with those tools, and lastly how to offset your timing.
(My video of the easier method of a timing belt change if you are only replacing it for maintenance can be found here: • 3.4L DOHC V-6 Easy Timing Belt Change )
(My timing offset was 4 degrees advanced for the intake cams and 6 degrees retarded for the exhaust cams)
After that from 35 to about 40 minutes is some more reassembly tips, along with some wiring and vacuum line plumbing.
Then the last part of the video is the engine running at idle.
