A Multifunctional Polarization Transforming
Metasurface for C-, X-, and K-Band Applications.
METASURFACES are being extensively investigated
due to their potential applications in controlling and
manipulating the electromagnetic (EM) waves in visible,
optical, and microwave regimes, both in reflection
and transmission modes. One of the most significant applications of these metasurfaces is polarization conversion. In this
perspective, various cross polarizers have been reported at GHz
and THz frequencies . Among these polarizers, various
designs are highly efficient and broadband . To achieve
high efficiency and wide bandwidth, many designs including
multilayer or complex structures have been proposed.
These multilayer structures have the ability to couple the
response of multiple resonant layers to generate the resonances
(magnetic and/or electric) for broadband operation. Although,
a high polarization conversion ratio (PCR) is achieved however
performance is confined only to normal incidence. Moving progressively, the researchers are also working to achieve efficient
and broadband cross polarizers through single-layer structures.
