Musica Viva (HK) - Opera: Maria Stuarda, a lyric tragedy by Gaetano Donizetti

Musica Viva proudly presents the production of the opera Maria Stuarda, which will take place in the Concert Hall of Hong Kong City Hall during 9-11 December 2022. This fully staged production is presented in celebration of Hong Kong City Hall’s 60th Anniversary.

Maria Stuarda, a tragic opera in two acts, with music by Gaetano Donizetti (1797-1848), set to a libretto by Giuseppe Bardari, based on Andrea Maffei’s translation of Friedrich Schiller’s 1800 play Maria Stuart. Maria Stuarda is loosely based on the story of Mary, Queen of Scots, and her cousin Elizabeth I, Queen of England and Ireland.

This fully staged opera will be accompanied by Musica Viva Orchestra conducted by @Wilson Ng. Six main roles will be performed by two casts of overseas and local artists under the artistic direction of Prof Lo Kingman.
