Pandemic Premieres in a series of choir experiments started by the Portland State Chamber Choir and their conductor Ethan Sperry in Spring, 2020 during the Covid Pandemic. The choir worked with local composers and visual artists, many of whom are members or alumni of the Chamber Choir. Each composer submitted a new work of music which had never been recorded before. The choir members used an online platform called SoundTrap to assemble the audio. SoundTrap allows each musician to record their part in their own home, while listening to what each of the previous singers has already sung. Some singers recorded themselves multiple times just for fun, sometimes on multiple different parts. The final audio was then paired with video slides of artwork by local artists.
