BSN POSTGAME INTERVIEWS: FLORIDA PREP 68, HERITAGE 51

Florida Prep pulled away late to defeat Heritage 68–51, but the final score doesn’t fully reflect how competitive the game was for much of the night. The Panthers battled, but down the stretch the Falcons showed exactly why they’re considered one of the top basketball teams in Brevard County this season.

The Ubrzati Player of the Game was Zhyon Thompson, who delivered a game-high 18 points and set the tone offensively. Thompson was aggressive from the opening tip and consistently answered whenever Heritage threatened to close the gap.

Sophomore Filip Ochocinski also turned in a strong performance, providing key scoring and energy as Florida Prep separated in the second half.

After the game, BSN caught up with Thompson and Ochocinski, along with head coach Montel Stewart. Stewart, a 2017 Florida Prep graduate, was a key contributor on the Falcons’ most recent state runner-up team and continues to build on the program’s championship tradition from the sideline.

Thompson and Ochocinski reflected on the win, their growth as a team, and what it means to represent Florida Prep.

They also shared pride in their roots, with Thompson discussing his connection to the Bahamas and Ochocinski speaking about his ties to Poland, highlighting the diverse backgrounds that make up this Falcons roster.

Florida Prep continues to build momentum as the season moves forward, blending talent, culture, and tradition into one of the most complete teams on the Space Coast.
