Day Trip to India Nepal Border & Mirik from Darjeeling - complete information

This day trip honestly felt like something out of a travel dream. 🌿
We started early from Darjeeling, winding down misty mountain roads surrounded by endless tea gardens, the kind of views that make you stop the car just to breathe it all in. The road from Darjeeling towards Mirik is surrounded by beautiful pine forests. As you drive through, you’ll see tall pine trees on both sides of the road. Darjeeling’s pine forests are one of the reasons why this region feels so refreshing and green.

The plan was simple - Visit the India-Nepal border at Pashupatinagar and explore Mirik.

Crossing over to the Nepal side, even for some time, was such a surreal feeling. The little market there is full of energy, people smiling, local shops selling clothes, perfumes, and small souvenirs. There’s this mix of cultures. From how to reach, distance, and travel time, permits, local food, shopping options, and border entry details, I’ve covered it all so you can easily plan your own journey.

From there, we drove to Mirik Lake, one of the calmest and prettiest spots in North Bengal. The reflections on the water, pine trees all around, and small boats in the middle were all like a painting.
