If you have a trauma history, or struggle with your mental health for any reason, mindfulness is a key skill to learn. Mindfulness meditation has been practised 2,500 years by Buddhists, but was only adopted in Western psychology in the 1970s. Since then, eight-week courses such as mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) have helped millions of people struggling with depression, anxiety and many other psychological problems.
But mainstream mindfulness practices can be tricky, or even highly triggering, for those with a trauma history. That is why these practices have been adapted for trauma-sensitive mindfulness – so they are just as effective but easier to practice if, say, you struggle to focus on your breath or body sensations.
If this sounds helpful for you, book your place on this 90-minute Zoom webinar with Dan Roberts, Advanced Accredited Schema Therapist, Trainer & Supervisor and Founder of Heal Your Trauma. Not Just Mindfulness, But Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness takes place on Saturday 12th November 2022, from 3pm-4.30pm and is the third in a series of regular webinars presented by Dan Roberts as part of the Heal Your Trauma project.
This webinar, which is both highly informative and experiential, is free to attend for those on a low income – or please choose the donation option when booking if you are able to support the Heal Your Trauma project.
Not Just Mindfulness, But Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness features 90 minutes of teaching, powerful exercises that will help you feel calmer and more relaxed, and a 15-minute Q&A with Dan Roberts, a leading expert on trauma, mental health and mindfulness-based therapies.
In this powerful, highly experiential webinar you will learn:
-Why mindfulness is a key skill for those with a trauma history or anyone struggling with their mental health
-How to begin a daily meditation practice, even if you have struggled to incorporate meditation into your busy life
-Why mindfulness is so helpful for common mental-health problems like depression, chronic stress, anxiety, addiction and disordered eating
-How to adapt common mindfulness practices using a trauma-informed approach to make mindfulness meditation work for everyone
-Why mindfulness is not just about sitting for 20 minutes a day – and forms part of a rich, vibrant and life-enhancing philosophy
-And, during a 15-minute Q&A, attendees can put their questions to Dan Roberts, Founder of Heal Your Trauma and an expert on trauma, mental health and depression
