After purchasing my 2017 MKZ I was bummed to find out that the Lincoln Connect (similar to Ford Connect) had been disabled due to the 3G networks no longer being in service. The only way to resolve this was to upgrade the onboard modem to a 4G and program it. This video show the process of upgrading the modem on my MKZ but it should be similar for Fusion owners as well. I was only able to pull this off with the help of some users on the Cyanlabs forums which I will link below.
The overall process entails: First remove you car from the Lincoln or Ford app
1. Replace 3G modem with 4G part number HJ5T-14G087-UF
2. Install 4G antenna for the modem
3. Upgrade the firmware on the modem in my case to HJ5T-14G087-UN
4. Master reset APIM
5. Set first line of TCU modem to B100 to clear out previous vehicle VIN
6. Wait about 5-10mins before trying to activate in the app
7. Enjoy!
