Georgia’s third largest city, Kutaisi has often served as a capital throughout its long history, even hosting the national parliament from 2012 to 2018. The ruins of Bagrati Cathedral overlook Kutaisi, while several other UNESCO sites, such as Gelati Monastery, are nearby. The city is also known for its adventure tourism, with Georgia’s largest caves and some of its best rafting areas located in the area.
