A great bit of musical nostalgia! Here is a 1930s vintage portable wind-up Gramophone from His Masters Voice playing 'Swing Mama' by the great English actor, comedian and singer-songwriter, George Formby. He was perhaps best known for playing his ukulele, and there is a great bit of ukulele jamming towards the end of this track.
The machine, which is HMV's hugely popular 101 model with side-wind handle, HMV No4 Sound Box and automatic start/brake system, survives in great condition. It's not the most portable of things - at least by today's standards - but in its day this is just the kind of thing that would be taken along to family picnics!
