The Hawaiian Sailing Canoe Association comes to town and puts on a multi day show sailing people around Hanalei Bay while showing off variations of traditional sail and rigging systems.
I was told the larger boats were a “One Design” with the hulls being pulled from same mould, but each having a unique style of rig varying slightly from another which was pretty neat to see.
It just so happened to be one of the windiest weekends we’ve had this summer, which really got a few of them scooting along pretty good.
A few were motor sailing as well.
Kauai was their last stop after sailing through the islands this summer.
I took some of the footage from SolGato, but got a front row seat to the drag racing watching from the Seawing Trimaran’s mooring.
