TC Electronic 3rd Dimension pedal demo: what a disappointment!

Well, schematics don't lie. Once I tried this pedal, it was immediately obvious that it's not a dimension chorus. The true dimension effect requires two separate delay lines, clocked by opposite phases of a single LFO. This unit only has one delay line. Thus, it's simply a regular chorus, like so many others, except it doesn't even sound that good as a regular chorus. My guess is that the cheap NE571 compandor they've used (cheaper than the NE570 because they require external trimming to get close to the same sound quality) is not trimmed properly, and maybe it'd sound better if I played around with the trimpot on the board, but honestly, I'm not going to put more effort into this unit, when it will never be a dimension chorus, no matter how it's trimmed.

Before, I said if it sounds good, then it sounds good. But unfortunately, this unit doesn't sound good.
I don't know how all those other Youtubers are managing to get pretty acceptable sounds out of this pedal, and comparing it with the Boss Dimension-C and finding it very similar. Are these videos all rigged? Why is TC Electronic bothering to put out such a disappointing fake? After all the effort to make a rather nice metal case, with the buttons and jacks and everything, making it look like a clone of the Boss dimension chorus, is it really worth it to cheap out on three extra chips which are surely only a small percentage of the overall cost of producing this pedal? I don't get it. Oh well.

Be warned! This thing is an annoying fake, it's not in any way a replacement for the Boss Dimension-C.
