Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, which are vital for nearly every function in the human body. There are 20 different amino acids, and they play critical roles in processes like tissue repair, muscle growth, hormone production, immune function, and more. Out of these 20, nine are called essential amino acids because the body cannot produce them, meaning they must be obtained through diet.
Why Amino Acids Are Important: strength!!
1. Protein Synthesis: They help create proteins that are essential for cell structure, enzymes, and muscles.
2. Energy Source: Some amino acids can be used by the body as an energy source when carbohydrates and fats are insufficient.
3. Metabolism Regulation: Amino acids are involved in regulating metabolic pathways, influencing how the body uses and stores energy.
4. Immune Function: Amino acids play a key role in producing antibodies, which are essential for fighting infections.
5. Neurotransmitter Production: They help synthesize neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which are crucial for mood regulation and brain function.
Without the proper balance of amino acids, the body’s ability to perform these critical functions becomes impaired.
