Our adventure began unexpectedly, as we were returning from an unplanned road trip to Legazpi, Bicol. With only four days left before my flight to Australia, I wanted to end my trip with something special—a peaceful, untouched destination that perfectly capped off my vacation. After countless Google searches and overhearing locals rave about “Calaguas Island” (also known as Mahabang Buhangin Beach), I knew it was the place to go.

Getting there wasn’t easy. The only public boat to Calaguas was scheduled to leave at 6 AM the next morning, and it was already 10 PM when we made the decision. We were still 4–5 hours away from the port and had no accommodation booked for the night. Fortunately, Raj from Funtasea Travel and Tours came to the rescue and helped make this dream trip possible.

We chose a 3-day, 2-night package for 6 people, which included a fully air-conditioned beachfront room and full-board meals for ₱49,400. This also covered a private boat, making the experience even more comfortable. If you’re looking for a more affordable beach resort option, Funtasea also offers a 3-day, 2-night package for only ₱4,199 per person. This budget-friendly option includes tents, full-board meals, a trekking fee, island hopping to Balagbag Island, and a tour guide. The only difference is that it doesn’t come with the fully air-conditioned room.
