The Berlin-based outfit GOLDEN APES has been known as a shimmering gem in the independent wave- and post punk-scene. Powerful picture language and surrealistic items are basic parts of GOLDEN APES’ artistic appearance, musically lead by charismatic lead singer Peer Lebrecht’s poetic and dark-melancholic lyrics, sustained by catchy but complex arrangements including beautiful melodies and astonishing twists. The Band has always admitted itself to the significant artists of the scene the members grew up with, from time to time-listening carefully-you can find familiar sounds from bands like Joy Division, The Cure, Sisters Of Mercy, Bauhaus or Psychedelic Furs in GOLDEN APES’ music. Coincidentally by publishing “K A S B E K” at the latest as their current full length album, GOLDEN APES in some ways found themselves emancipated from these influences, but only to create an individual, distinctive own style within that universe.

There are nine full-length albums published until now, which show a continuous and passionate development in GOLDEN APES’ work. A successful collaboration with the Russian label "Shadowplay" enabled the Band to play many club shows and festivals across Europe, Russia and the USA. In 2022, the EP "From The Sky" is released and the Band signs with French label Icy Cold Records. 25 years after its beginnings, the Band is celebrating its anniversary in 2023 and is working on new material. "Our Ashes At The End Of The Day", the new record, will be released on 5th January 2024 via Icy Cold Rec.
