Indomethacin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID). It decreases inflammation, pain, and fever, through inhibition of cyclooxygenase activity and prostaglandin synthesis.

It is available as 25 mg, 50 mg and 75 mg tablets, injection and suppositories.

It is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, gouty arthritis, acute painful shoulder caused by bursitis or tendinitis. Indomethacin sodium trihydrate (IV): Closure of patent ductus arteriosus.
