The Ekspres Selatan(ES) was a train service introduced in 2016 to operate over the original single-track, non-electrified section between Gemas(GMS) and JB Sentral(JBS) while the GMS-JBS Double-Tracking and Electrification Project was being developed. With the project completed and with the Electric Train Service commencing operations between GMS and JBS on 12 December 2025, ES was terminated on 1 January 2026.
ES had six services, three trains per direction:
1. 41dn
(Depart Gemas: 2:00am, Arrive JB Sentral: 6:25am)
2. 42up
(Depart JB Sentral: 830am, Arrive Gemas: 1:14pm)
3. 43dn
(Depart Gemas: 9:30am, Arrive JB Sentral: 2:15pm)
4. 44up
(Depart JB Sentral: 2:40pm, Arrive Gemas: 7:06pm)
5. 45dn
(Depart Gemas: 3:20pm, Arrive JB Sentral: 7:45pm)
6. 46up
(Depart JB Sentral: 6:05pm, Arrive Gemas: 10:47pm)
up = Northbound
dn = Southbound
Class 24 24121 “Tun Perak” had the honour of hauling ES 45dn, the final southbound train from GMS to JBS.
