This video is the third of a series of fifteen lectures on apologetics for Regent College Vancouver explores the relation of faith and doubt, and calls into question the claims to certainty offerewd by some writers of the “New Atheism.” The lecture opens by considering how to explain “faith” to a sceptical culture, and continues by reflecting on the rationality of faith. The lecture then turns to scrutinize the ehe Enlightenment’s demand for certainty, and considers and assesses the quite different attitudes to the question of proof associated with Richard Dawkins and the Harvard psychologist William James. The lecture concludes by considering how we can live with doubt in an uncertain world.
