Here are some great accounts from undertaker Sean Condon from Clonmel of burial customs, practices and stories from over the years. In the clip he talks about families and neighbours digging graves as well as graves being filled in while the family are still at the graveside. He has one great account of one fella "murdering himself" (ie going full on) filling in the grave as he had people watching him and was showing off, while another of a fella he saved from falling into an open grave in Grangemockler. He also talks about seeing the shovels being left in the shape of the sign of the cross when the grave was filled in.
