🌿 Welcome to Rajahatta – A Hidden Eco-Paradise in Darjeeling Hills! 🏞️

Nestled along National Highway 110 lies the quaint Aathmile Bazaar, beside which flows the ever-glistening 8th mile Khola (stream). As you ascend along its banks, you’re greeted by lush greenery and the breathtaking view of dense forests. Follow the stream further uphill and you’ll reach the mesmerizing Rabdal Waterfall, cascading gracefully through nature’s heart.

At the source of this waterfall sits the serene, secluded, and naturally rich village of Rajahatta – part of Upper Sonada Gram Panchayat under the Jorebunglow-Sukhiapokhari region in Kurseong subdivision, Darjeeling. Proudly recognized as Darjeeling Hills’ first Zero Waste Village, Rajahatta is slowly and steadily moving toward sustainable development.

✨ Emerging from the slogan “Build your village yourself, make your place known”, a dynamic youth collective called Rajahatta Explore Group was formed this very year. With a vision that blends social work and rural tourism, the group is shaping Rajahatta into a hub for sustainable community tourism, integrating agriculture with adventure tourism.

Putting nature and environmental preservation first, the group is committed to hosting eco-friendly events that raise awareness and promote responsible tourism. One such upcoming event is set to be a unique experience – a perfect blend of culture, tradition, and thrill.

In a village where the traditional doko (bamboo basket) is a part of daily life and culture, the group is organizing a challenging trail run that highlights its significance. Runners will pass through winding village paths, dense forests, streams, waterfalls, steep climbs, ridges, and rocky trails — all while embracing the spirit of eco-conscious adventure.
