The Hyundai Santa Fe is four years into its fourth generation but isn’t getting any less competitive or appealing thanks to running changes and a raft of key updates.

Hyundai recently ushered in an MY22 series, which follows a significant mid-life overhaul that brought fresh styling, a new platform, higher tech, extra advanced safety, upgraded powertrains and more.

Here, we’re testing the most affordable diesel-powered Santa Fe model that has a starting price below $50,000, and while pricing has crept up, the popular seven-seat large SUV still represents excellent value for money.
