Day 2 of my Slovenia journey takes me through some of the country’s most iconic natural and cultural highlights.
I start at the stunning Vintgar Gorge, where the Radovna River cuts through a 1.6 km canyon filled with wooden walkways, hanging cliffs, and roaring waterfalls. A perfect place to feel the raw power of nature.
Next, I head up to the Vogel mountain resort. A cable car ride brings me to the Rjava Skala viewpoint, opening up breathtaking views of Lake Bohinj — the largest lake in Slovenia — and the distant, snow-white peak of Mount Triglav (2864 m). If the weather allows, I take another lift even higher to the Orlove Glave lookout for an easy mountain walk and some fresh alpine air.
Later in the day, I arrive in Ljubljana, Slovenia’s charming capital. The city is famous for its bridges — there are seventeen of them — and its small old town wrapped around the Ljubljanica River. I explore St. Nicholas Cathedral with its impressive baroque frescoes, the Town Hall, Dragon Bridge, the Robba Fountain, and the iconic Triple Bridge that connects the old town with the central square. High above the city stands Ljubljana Castle, completing the postcard view.
Join me on this beautiful second day of the Slovenia adventure.
