Westar’ Christianity Seminar aims to rewrite the history of early Christianity. Now, as the Seminar’s work of research, dialogue, and debate enters its second phase, Westar scholars will look at the history and practices of what came to be known as the “early church” — but in actuality was many disparate movements trying to understand and adapt the teachings of Jesus to their own experience and context.
Join us as we talk with the co-chairs of the Seminar, Lillian Larsen and Jason BeDuhn, about how this work has changed the understanding of early Christianity, and where the research continues to lead. We’ll talk about women in the early church, ritual practices, early beliefs and theology, and much more.
