I call it Quasimodo: a guitar patched together and made out of non-standard materials (resawn Home Depot hemlock for the top, a softwood cedar neck left over from my dad's deck). Jatoba back and sides is actually a good choice, it's a very hard wood and has some of that reverb you get from rosewood, but it's very difficult to work with. The hemlock was probably kiln-dried and will be replaced, but after almost 15 years it's suddenly sounding pretty good. Still seems to be missing maybe the upper mid-range.

It's the first guitar in the video, the 2nd is another guitar I built (my first build) with Sitka top and Indian Rosewood back and sides.
