Ever get a new alternator and the charging lug is facing the wrong direction? It’s not a problem with the alternator—you just need to clock it. GM 10si/12si and Ford 1G/2G alternators have universal cases that can be rotated to suit your setup. This design makes them super versatile for all kinds of builds, but it also means you might need to adjust the orientation yourself.
Clocking the alternator is easy: remove the rear case screws, carefully rotate the rear housing to a better position, and reinstall the screws. Just be careful not to separate the case halves too far, or you’ll have to mess with the brushes.
