Expectations vs Reality - Our Journey So Far

Our latest vlog talks our expectations Vs Reality on our journey so far after leaving the UK two months ago with our 5 children. Dionne and I naturally had some expectations regarding the places we plan to visit, how we would feel about leaving our life in the UK, how the kids would adjust, etc. Maybe some of our expectations were a bit pie in the sky and unachieveable but we wanted to still try and meet them. We said that we would always try and keep our posts real and talk about the good AND bad bits.

We talk about unexpected bad news events such as losing our drone and having to pay visa overstay fines. Our worldschooling fantasy of having 5 attentive kids who absorb so much new information on every trip we take. We had a big reality check there! Insects/bugs in SE Asia. Wow, they are everywhere and so annoying! What have we done to combat this annoyance? Plastic pollution in SE Asia is out of control. Not all of the heavenly white sand beaches are as pleasing on the eye as you think! Plastic rubbish everywhere! It was so sad to see this and it's mainly on the beaches where locals hang out and there are no resorts nearby. More on that.

👨‍👨‍👧‍👧 ABOUT US

We are a family of 7:
The parents: Mum (Dionne) and Dad (Nadeem)
The teenager: Jayden (aged 14)
The twins: Skyla and Kobie (aged 8)
Last but not least: Aniyah and Nakhai (aged 6 & 5)

Our life in the UK was bog standard and relatively uneventful. Bringing our children in the standard way as part of the rigid system we have always been part of. We weren't really spending any quality time together as a family, Just existing. Life was passing us by. Something had to change. The pandemic was the push we needed to make those changes. We decided to sell everything and travel the world whilst homeschooling our children. On 23rd July 2022, we left the UK and have never looked back. We are sharing our experiences with you as we believe that there are many other families who have been feeling similar to how we did but have yet to find the courage to chase their dreams. We are living proof that it really is possible. We would love to hear from you if you are thinking about taking that leap or are already out there travelling and would like to meet up.
