Some songs are just too fun to play. Keith Urban's "Straight Line" fits that bill, even more so with his live version.
Written by Urban and song writing partners Jerry Flowers, Chase McGill, and Greg Wells, this burner takes a mandolin with guitar tuning and starts an ear worm riff that carries the song.
I transposed the mandolin part using a capo and the pitch shifter on the Nano Cortex.
Urban is a masterful guitarist bending into country but his superior chops are laced with straight ahead rock and roll.
Here he bounces back and forth over a simple chord progression using tasteful voicing, bell tones and noodles to outline the mandolin and the driving drums and bass patterns.
His solos are just as fun, finishing the song off with a "fiddle-style" line that transition beautifully into all out rock and roll.
Gear used: White PRS,SE NF53, Gold PRS SE DGT, Nano Cortex for the tones and effects chain, with everything running into Logic Pro.
