I have spent more time analyzing the G5 up close in dark HDR content and come to the conclusion that the G5 dithering issue (or crawling) is a large enough problem to knock it from a 10/10 to a 9/10. I don't believe its a deal breaker, and I think the G5 is still hands down the best display PC gamers can buy (or for bright room viewing), but for some, this issue may be very noticeable, and LG should fix it.

I have reached out to LG to share my feedback on dithering, and hopefully it will be fixed or improved with a future update, but it may not.

The King - LG G5 4 Layer OLED (4K 165Hz) PC Review
After a year of anticipation, I finally got my hands on the 55" LG G5 OLED, and I can confidently say it’s the best TV I’ve ever tested. This 4K W-OLED panel features LG’s new 4-layer design, hits an insane 2,500 nits peak brightness, covers over 80% of the BT.2020 color gamut, and now runs at 165Hz—making it phenomenal for PC gaming. With Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, and the new Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 2, the G5 delivers stunning HDR impact, excellent color accuracy, and improved contrast, especially in bright rooms thanks to its glossy finish and MLA-free design. It easily competes with QD-OLEDs like the Samsung S95F, but actually surpasses them in perceived clarity and ambient light handling. Latency is ultra-low at around 26ms, making it as fast as many 240Hz gaming monitors. While not perfect—it still has minor off-angle tinting, a white sub-pixel that can reduce text clarity, and sluggish menu response—the overall experience is unmatched. Whether you're watching movies or gaming with RTX HDR, this display delivers jaw-dropping performance. In my opinion, the LG G5 is the best OLED TV of 2025, and quite possibly the best gaming display ever made.
