Iowa Marine Engine & Launch Works
This 3,000-square-foot exhibit space features a working 19th century belt-driven machine shop that once created motors for racing boats on the Mississippi River.
This machine shop was located 30 miles from Dubuque in Bellevue IA and the owners donated it to the museum when it closed. It took an engineer from Greenfield Village two years to reassemble it in working order for the museum to use.
