Woodturning an ugly lump of hornbeam by first taking an axe to a vase and repairing the cracks with dyed epoxy resin, then woodturning to a beautiful swan vase again. It was supposed to have a lava effect, but put a little too much red dye in there and failed.
It was all in the name of Youtube, but could you purposely destroy a piece of art? I doubt the word exists in Japanese, but the translator said it could be called "lava seam", yogantsugi (溶岩継ぎ), akin to Kintsugi (金継ぎ), golden repair or seam.
