In the epic Ramayanam, the Ravana Samharam marks the climax of the war between Lord Rama and the mighty demon king Ravana of Lanka. This fierce battle symbolizes the ultimate triumph of Dharma (righteousness) over Adharma (evil).
As the war intensifies, the battlefield trembles under the roar of celestial weapons. Ravana, mounted on his grand chariot, unleashes powerful astras, displaying the fury of a desperate but formidable warrior. Lord Rama, calm yet fierce, counters each attack with divine precision.
Despite losing his brothers and generals, Ravana fights with unyielding pride and tenacity. He takes on monstrous forms, hurls Agneyastra, Nagastra, and even summons dark illusions to confuse Rama. But Rama, guided by the blessings of Rishi Agastya through the Aditya Hridayam, shines like the blazing sun.
In the final moments, Rama severs Ravana’s ten heads multiple times, but they keep regenerating — a symbol of his deep-rooted ego and arrogance. At last, with unwavering focus and divine power, Rama invokes the Brahmastra. Aimed straight at Ravana’s heart — the seat of his soul — the mighty weapon pierces through, finally bringing down the king of Lanka.
Ravana falls to the earth with a thunderous crash. The heavens rejoice, sages chant blessings, and the devas shower flowers in celebration. With his death, righteousness is restored, and Sita Devi is one step closer to being reunited with her Lord.
Ravana Samharam is not just a war scene — it is the spiritual victory of truth, humility, and divine will over ego, cruelty, and deceit.
