Porsche 928 Dashboard Reupholstery Project: Day 1 - Removing The Pod, Center Console, and Dashboard

This is the first installment in what Rudy hopes will be a two-week project to reupholster the original cracked leather dashboard, center console, and instrument pod in "Risky Business", our $4,000 1985 Porsche 928S project car. The challenge is to get all of this done over a two-week period in time to drive and show the car at the 2022 Philly RADWood event being held on May 21, 2022, in Philadelphia.

In this first installment, Rudy and his friend Nick spend the better part of a cold and rainy Saturday pulling out the instrument cluster, center console, and instrument binnacle. While the removal of the parts proved to be one of the easier projects thus far on the 928, the years this car spent in a barn proved the car was not mouse-free during that time. Mice long ago left their mark underneath the top of the dashboard and center console that included some chewed wiring.
