Inside SoFi in 4K: Rams Beat Cardinals in Revenge Game on SATURDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL! | 12/28/2024

The Los Angeles Rams inched closer to clinching the NFC West title on Saturday, December 28, 2024 with a 13-9 victory over the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium. What a pleasure it was to attend a true Rams home game, as the Rams House was stuffed with fans repping the Royal as far as the eye could see. Unbelievably, fans even got the wave going around the stadium multiple times!

What wasn't so great was how close this game was! Thank goodness the defense came up big in the 4th quarter with clutch interceptions by Kam Kinchens and Ahkello Witherspoon. I will give props to the Cardinals, who definitely came to play even though they've been eliminated from the playoffs. They certainly came extremely close to spoiling this game for the Rams in front of their most loyal audience this season.

Other high points of the game:

-Puka Nacua caught 10 passes for 129 yards

-Braden Fiske sacked QB Kyler Murray twice, and Kobie Turner and Byron Young each sacked him once (although to me it seemed that Kyler fell on his butt on his own and Byron just tackled him after he fell, but I guess that counts!)

-Michael Hoecht blocked the Cardinals' extra-point attempt

The Rams have now won 5 games in a row and lead the NFC West, and the victory over the Cardinals positioned them to clinch the division before the final regular season game vs. the Seahawks is played at SoFi Stadium next weekend. However, to determine whether that game will mean anything for the Rams' playoff hopes, they need help from other teams to secure the “strength of victory” tiebreaker that would make the outcome of the final game of the regular season vs. the Seahawks moot.

On Saturday, we saw clips from the Bengals vs. Broncos game on the infinity screen at SoFi, and the Bengals helped the Rams out by beating the Broncos in OT. Now Rams fans are watching intently on Sunday to see if three of five teams — the Browns, Commanders, Bills and Vikings, and (shudder) if need be the 49ers on Monday — can win and enable the Rams to rest starters for the playoffs.
