How to change engine, transmission, and primary oil in Harley Davidson FATBOY built between 2000 and 2017. Drain plug locations and procedure to drain and replace the engine oil, transmission fluid, and primary fluid as well as the oil filter. I show the drain plug locations and how to replace all 3 fluids. This process will be basically the same for all FATBOY's built from 2000 to 2017.

Always remember, to start your bike and let it run for at least 5 minutes before you change the oil. Warm oil drains better, pulls out sediment better, and with "Dry Sump" engines like in our Harley Davidson motorcycles, the oil tends to "sump" down into the engine case over time which will prevent you from draining all the oil from the bike during this procedure. This creates a problem because when you start the engine after a cold oil change, the oil pump will pump all the oil that has settled into your engine cases back up into the already full oil tank, causing it to overflow all over your bike and floor and driveway.

The engine oil plug and transmission fluid plug both torque between 14 foot pounds and 21 foot pounds if you decide to use a torque wrench.
