Since introducing the Welsh Poppy to our garden, it has attracted so many bees with easily accessed pollen-laden anthers. Also loved as a food source by hoverflies, crickets, and pheasants, who enjoy the seed! The poppies readily self-seed, softening hard landscaping, and are happy in a moist, well-drained flower bed or container, in sun or shade. Welsh poppies have yellow or orange petals. Our is the orange variant Papaver cambricum var. Aurantiaca which sometimes produces yellow-flowering seedlings.
