This video presents a demonstration of Nihon Kendo Kata performed with a habiki at the 64th North South Kendo Tournament.
The experience highlighted the significant difference between bokuto and habiki practice. The realistic weight and tension of a live blade emphasized the critical role of habiki training in mastering kata.
Analyzing the performance revealed technical deficiencies stemming from a lack of focused habiki practice. Specifically, my gaze (Metsuke) was not consistently maintained on the opponent during sword insertion, and blade manipulation was not smooth.
Your technical insights and feedback are highly appreciated. Please share your comments below to aid in my technical development.
I remain committed to continuous improvement !!
