LAND ROVER 110 Chassis Repair | DIY Rear Cross Member

At the age of nearly 30, the old Land Rover (110 County, Station Wagon, 2.5 TD) really earned at least some bigger repairs. Quite reliable, she has been serving me for 20 years. (not held in the garage ever because of the size) A common problem for all vehicles is that rust.
This truck was used through all the seasons of the year mostly on the mountain roads and off road through wilderness. Surprisingly, the rear of the chassis that usually rusts before has lasted for quite a long time; it could be repaired by patchwork made of steel sheet but I decided to make it all complete using thicker and stronger material. Probably it will last longer than anything else on that truck. I bought a 3 mm thick metal sheet, and cut it into measured elements ... dimensions compared with the original cross memeber and extensions. After checking the chassis I carefully cut and removed the rusty parts ... here is how did I do that all with a little help of my son and a friend (final welding). My pets at home made me company as always.

HRVATSKI: U dobi od gotovo 30 godina, stari Land Rover (110 County, Station Wagon, 2,5 TD) zaista je zaslužio bar neke veće popravke. Prilično pouzdan, služi mi tako već 20 godina. (zbog veličine nikad nije garažiran). Uobičajeni problem za sva vozila odavno pa i danas je ta hrđa. Aluminijska karoserija je kod Land Rover-a na čeličnoj šasiji koja vremenom hrđa. Ovaj "terenac" korišten je kroz sva godišnja doba uglavnom na planinskim cestama i izvan ceste na terenima kroz divljinu. Iznenađujuće, stražnji dio šasije koji obično zahrđa puno ranije, ovdje je prilično dugo potrajao. Moglo bi se popraviti zakrpama od čeličnog lima, ali ja sam odlučio da iskrojim sve iznova, koristeći deblji i jači materijal. Vjerojatno će trajati puno duže nego bilo što drugo na tom vozilu. Kupio sam metalnu ploču debljine 3 mm i izrezao u mjerene elemente ... dimenzija po usporedbi s izvornim poprečnim dijelom i produžecima. Nakon provjere šasije pažljivo sam odrezao i tako uklonio neupotrebljive hrđave dijelove ... evo kako sam sve to radio, naravno uz malu pomoć sina i prijatelja (završna zavarivanja). Jeftino no nije bilo baš jednostavno ... a moji kućni ljubimci doma, bili su mi dobro društvo kao i uvijek. (Pavle Balenović 2017.)
