Dorney Lake Triathlon 2024 - Amazing Event but Poor Performance!

3rd place in category and 24th overall today at @dorneytriathlon 🥉🏁

It was all going so well until the run! 🤢👇🏻

Before we get into the race debrief, what an amazing event this was. Amazing volunteers, great event organisation and a spectacular race venue 🤩

🏊 - A PB 1500m swim with a time of 23 minutes, something that I wanted to work on after Cardiff which paid off.

🚲- A PB bike leg for the 40km distance with a time of 57mins. Dorney is pan flat but the wind was certainly noticeable. I’m not the strongest rider on a flat course so this was a good opportunity to work on this.

Bike dismount was lovleh and I came in around the top 10 marker 🤌🏻

🏃🏻- this is where it went downhill, the first 5km was ok but nowhere near what I’m capable of, then I realised I was overheating, HR rising and my pace slowing. with 3km to go I was throwing up and had to put myself into limp mode home and lost roughly 5/6 minutes. Costing me huge amount of places in the overall and the lead of my category (10km time 45mins) 🤮

Overall, I got things to work on before EU Champs and will try them at Bala.

If you want a fancy a race in an awesome venue, give Eton Dorney a go! 💪🏻
