On this auspicious Tamil New Year’s day I feel immensely blessed by His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Mahaperiyava to present this Maasa Pathi Paamalai - a poetry of 12 verses - penned by the prolific poet Sri Saanu Puthiran, an ardent devotee of Sri Mahaperiyava. The exquisite lyrics sing the praise of Mahaperiyava connecting his divine essence to the twelve Tamil months starting with Chithirai. The tune that I have been blessed to compose is in twelve ragas set to Kanda Triputa Talam. This has been sung and played on the violin by my students.
My heartfelt thanks to Vid Sri K. V. Gopalakrishnan for kindly agreeing to embellish the song with his percussion on the kanjira.
